DEAR FUTURE MAGGIE
Dear future Maggie, how are you? I hope you have achieved all of your goals and are hopefully content with your life. Currently, I’m sitting in my freshman year college dorm room right now at the University of Tampa. So far, it’s been really hard adjusting to the Floridian lifestyle. Coming from Massachusetts and having to leave all of your friends and family behind was extremely scary. You had to really adjust to the different groups of people and the different overall atmosphere of the University. You have made a few friends but you don’t really have one solid group of friends yet and that’s very uncommon for you. You have always loved being surrounded by other people and doing activities with friends but now that you are at college you are starting to become a lot more independent. It’s been really hard for you. I am wishing that you are either at ESPN by now or working your way there because currently, that’s all I can think about. For the rest of this letter I just wanna talk about and remind you of the things going on in your life right now. I want to let you know that the happiest you've ever been is when you were a freshman in high school. Sophomore year was awful for you. You lost friends, made enemies, and most importantly, you lost yourself and your own happiness. Junior year was a big turn around after you branched out and made friends with people who you would have never thought would be your friend. Things were really good on the outside but honestly I think with everything that happened to you during that time period, you still felt a little bit lost. You would never ever tell anybody about these feelings you had because you lost a huge part of your confidence and ability to believe in yourself so you just decided that no one else should believe in you either. You have been trying ever since to get that feeling back but nothing seems to work. You thought that if you tried new things, new experiences, that you’d be able to get the feeling back in a different way. That’s why you chose the University of Tampa, for a different and new experience. Maybe, you would find joy in being in a different state and learning a new way of life. I hope that by the time you are reading this you don’t feel like a piece of you is still missing. My big wish for you is that you remember how confident you can be, how strong you are, and you remember that nothing can stop you. That is my one big goal for you and I hope that you’ve accomplished it.
